On Thursday, April 1st CASA of the Coastal Bend hosted a virtual community awareness event, Ringing of the Bells, via Zoom. The event, hosted by KRIS 6 News Anchor and CASA Board Member Paulo Salazar, began with a proclamation read by Mayor Paulette Guajardo. Community partners, including local child welfare agencies, shared their services they provide for children and families as well as opportunities for the public to get involved to support their programs. CASA of the Coastal Bend’s mission is to advocate for the best interest of children in Nueces and Aransas County foster care. Agape Ranch supports foster and adoptive families, foster and vulnerable children in the Coastal Bend through programs such as an annual Christmas Store, Trauma-Informed training, and services such as The City-Wide Respite Program, Agape Connection, and Foster Parents Night Out (3-4 times/year). Agape Ranch also assists in the prevention of children entering the foster care system through CarePortal, an online platform for verified requesting agencies to connect vulnerable children and families to people who can help.
BCFS Health and Human Services-Corpus Christi provides case management and assistance with education, employment and housing and parenting education.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend (CACCB) is a victim-centered, Multidisciplinary team approach to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. The CACCB provides specialized Forensic Interviews, therapeutic recovery services, case management, and outreach, education, and prevention services. The children served by the CACCB are alleged victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, drug-endangerment, human trafficking, and witnesses to violent crimes such as homicide and domestic violence.
The mission of Foster Angels is to improve the lives of children in foster care ensuring each child has their basic needs met and providing life-enhancing, life-enriching opportunities whenever possible.
We equip children, youth and families to flourish by offering hope through Christ-centered relationships, services and support.
For over 21 years, the Nueces Child Welfare Foundation Inc, a 501(c) (3) organization, has supported and advocated for Nueces County children in foster care. They provide services, financial support, and networking tools for children in the care of the Department of Family and Protective Services.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) works with communities to promote safe and healthy families and protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We do this through investigations, services and referrals, and prevention programs.
