CASA Volunteer Patti Mathys

“Faith and hope brought me to becoming a CASA volunteer. I believe we are not meant to carry our burdens alone. Life has been tough for these children, and the burdens they have been handed are hard to bear. But when we walk alongside them, we are telling them that are not forgotten, they do matter and we care. Carrying their burdens does not mean to take away their pain. It simply means that we are there to hold them up and be their voice, thru the good, the bad and the ugly. My hope is that one day, they will be able to talk about their blessings more than they talk about their burdens.”

– Patti Mathys, CASA of the Coastal Bend Volunteer

Patti quickly took her first case and she is now advocating for a sibling group of five.  The children look forward to her visits and are eager to show her what they have colored.  Although the goal is usually to keep siblings together, sometimes the CASA has to go against that.  It very well may be the outcome of Patti’s case, in the best interest of the children.
