Overview of position:
CASA of the Coastal Bend is seeking a self-motivated and driven individual with strong leadership,
training and recruitment experience with the ability to plan, implement and evaluate strategies to increase
interest in the CASA Volunteer role. Involvement in Community Education, Outreach and Special Events
is a must.
About CASA of the Coastal Bend:
At CASA of Coastal Bend, we train and support volunteers, who are appointed by the court to advocate
for abused and neglected children. Our mission is simply: To speak up for and find permanent homes for
foster children in crisis throughout Nueces and Aransas Counties.
Responsibilities:
The recruitment / training manager builds a strong community connection to grow our volunteer base.
This role is responsible for representing the organization in the community and recruiting screening and
training new volunteer advocates. Must manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Volunteer Onboarding, Training and Continuing Education:
- Host information sessions as currently scheduled and per potential volunteer request
- Schedule pre-service interviews with potential volunteers and volunteer liaison
- Follows-up with potential volunteers who will attend CASA training
- Facilitate pre-service volunteer advocate training using effective adult learning techniques
(Training consists of 5 evenings a month that does not include events, presentations and
continuing education that may be on evenings and/or weekends) - Facilitates group activities in the classroom and processes resulting behaviors. Collaborate with
staff on findings. - Schedule and coordinate Swearing In ceremonies
- Conducts classroom administration (set-up/break down; circulates roster;), and meal.
- Maintains and revises course materials as required
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to identify continuing education needs; coordinate training
sessions, speakers, and resources to strengthen advocacy skills. - Maintain records of attendance and participation during training and continuing education
- Collecting and analyzing data on training effectiveness through surveys, observation, and
performance measures. Survey is required after all training.
- Volunteer Recruitment, Community Outreach and Presentations:
- Assist and represent CASA at community fairs, meetings, and events to recruit volunteers and
promote the mission. - Assist in seeking opportunities and coordinating presenters to speak to local community groups to
recruit volunteers and raise community awareness. - Tracking and maintenance of records for any community presentations/events including date,
time, groups, number of participants, and number of materials distributed. - Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment plan with
action steps and goals. - Log all information sessions into the common database for Volunteer Liaison and
Communications Director - Partners with Communications Director to coordinate community donation projects (backpacks
/school supplies, toys for Christmas, etc.). - Partner with Communications Director to coordinate all Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention
Month (April) activities including city and county proclamations. - Lead all social media tools to plan and execute recruitment, retention, community, and special
events designed to further our mission and to raise community awareness about issues facing
abused and neglected children in our community. - Develop CASA related content including articles and ads for local publications
- Generate publicity and develop PR plans for CASA special events (ex. Fundraisers, Child Abuse
Awareness Month, National Adoption Day, and community events). Scheduling dates for these
events, ensuring staff and volunteer participation, taking pictures and being a designated
spokesperson as needed
- 3.Volunteer Relationships:
- Create and distribute the monthly CASA chronicle/newsletter.
- Coordinate with supervisors to obtain the CASA story from volunteers. 2 stories a month.
- Manage closed FB page for CASA staff, board and advocates.
- Assist Communications Director in developing and maintaining CASA website, update event
pages, event calendar, continuing education calendar, training information, etc. - Assist with retention events for volunteers and their CASA children.
- Maintain frequent and ongoing contact (including, but not limited to, a monthly email or phone
call) with potential and auxiliary volunteers updating them with upcoming training and/or general
volunteer opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree is required however, in lieu of a degree, significant professional relevant
experience may be considered. - Experience should be at least three years of experience in volunteer coordination, community
engagement, training or adult education. Prefer experience in all areas. - Knowledge and skills in adult learning techniques with the ability to facilitate training for diverse
audiences, with varying learning styles. - Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and virtual meeting/training platforms.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and training sessions.
- Ability to set priorities and multi-task.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a positive customer service attitude.
- Ability to understand complex situations and successfully manage conflict.
- Ability to speak persuasively to large and small groups.
- Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
Employment Package – START DATE 9/15/2025.
- Annual Salary–$45K (which includes the 3rd paycheck January. Job is 38 hrs./wk.
- Medical Benefits—Majority of Medical paid by CASA. Employees pay a small percentage a
month depending on plan choice. - Dental Benefits—available paid by employee
- Vision Benefits—available paid by employee
- Retirement/403(b) Plan—Employee is vested at 3 years. The board approves a percentage
between 2-4% of yearly salary. - Sick/Vacation/Personal/Holiday: 8 hours per month vacation, 8 hours per month sick leave,
vacation pay goes up at 3 years with organization to 10 per month and to 12 at 5 years. 2
personal days per year.
